Apparently the best way to beat the heat is to climb Mt Adams.
We've done Adams once before in 2019 as a car-to-car trip with an alpine/2AM start. This time we went for an overnight trip.
We did the South climb, which nominally is approx 12 mi and 6700 ft of gain. We arrived at the trailhead at about 2:00 AM prior to the hike which is ironic considering that last time, that was our start time lol.
Day 1 consists of a non-technical climb up to the Lunch Counter at ~9200 ft. Day 2 consists of the snow covered ascent up to Pikers Peak (false summit) and then finally Mt Adams.
Problems: Sunburn no matter how much sunscreen I put on. I'm glad I bought glacier glassess. Also wind made me burn through a lot of fuel. My 2013 knockoff MSR Pocket Rocket may have finally met its match.
Successes: The best glissading ever.
